AlexisAlexis was always concerned about her image, and rarely went out of the house without being well dressed and manicured. I chose mahogany for this box, as it is a very elegant, classy wood, for a very polished look. Alexis loved to sing; thus I included her singing silhouette. 3 images |
DamekaDameka was the youngest of the sisters, and the most reserved, modest, and shy. I always believed that one day she would blossom and come into her own. I made this box out of curly cherry, because over time, cherry becomes deeper, richer, and more elegant. At the time I designed this, Dameka used to draw a particular style of flower. I used one of her drawings as the basis for the carved flower on top. 3 images |
PatriciaPatricia was the oldest of the sisters. She and I would spend lots of time just talking about her life situations. She would always say she was complicated, to which I would respond that she just had a very complex personality. I made this box out of maple, with several complex inlays. Though fully capable of performing well in school, Patricia often backed away from academic challenges, and never realized just how much she was capable of. I made this box with a hidden drawer. When I gave it to her, I put a piece of jewelry in the hidden compartment to represent the hidden treasure that she has within. 3 images |
TinekaTineka was the fun-loving, easy going one of the sisters. She was also the one that everyone in the family could count on to be there when needed the most. I made this box as a tower to represent the stablizing force that she represented for the family. She enjoyed dancing and had a love for animals, and that is represented by the inlays of dancing silhouttes and animals. 4 images |
